Hames Center

The Sheldon Jackson Campus includes Sitka’s community fitness center. Non-members can pay a day rate to use top of the line cardiovascular and weight training equipment, and are welcome to sign up for classes. http://www.hamescenter.org/

Internet Availability

Wireless internet is available in limited locations on campus.

Smoking Policy

The Sheldon Jackson Campus is a tobacco free campus. Tobacco of any kind is not permitted anywhere on the premises.

Weather

Sitka has a temperate maritime climate. Winters are mild with an average temperature of around 32°F. Summers are cool with an average temperature of about 60° F. To best enjoy our outdoors, we recommend that you bring rain gear and dress in layers.

Local Amenities

Downtown Sitka

Downtown Sitka is located right down the street from our campus. Simply head down the hill towards the water and take a right on Lincoln Street. You’ll know that you’re there when you have reached the stoplight at Lake Street.

Banking/ATMs

Local banks include Alaska Pacific Bank, First Bank, First National Bank Alaska and Wells Fargo. These banks and ATMs are located in the downtown area about .5 mi from the Sheldon Jackson Campus.

Grocery Stores

The closest grocery store, Market Center, is an easy walk from the Sheldon Jackson Campus. Turn right when leaving the campus and walk .3 mi up Lincoln St. Turn right at Baranof St and the grocery store will be one block up the road.

Post Office

A post office is located in the downtown area on Lincoln St, .4 mi from campus.

Public Library

The Kettleson Memorial Library is temporarily located right here on the Sheldon Jackson Campus in the former Stratton Library building. Along with their fantastic staff and fabulous book collection, the library also offers public computers and wireless internet.
